For roughly the last two decades the global demand for oil has been increasing at an alarming rate. 'Black gold' has been called the trigger for many a war, especially when waged by the US, as has been the mantra of the far left. Truth is, while the liberal humanist was screaming 'no war for oil' - and many of mine ilk were calling this chant an anti-American activist slogan, there is more than just a hint of truth to it...in fact it is Biblical in it's relevance, and consequently, prophetic in nature.

While the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil, the quest for power via the petroleum pipeline is the fruit of this wickedness. Even though we've entered the theater of war under the auspices of freedom and liberation - and we do good works by man's standards and not necessarily God's (since he knows the heart and the true motivation in all things) - we cannot divorce 'sweet crude' from the equation. It's truly at the heart of our national security simply because it is the very life-blood that courses through our cultural veins. It's important to virtually every industry from plastics and lubricants, to solvents, gasoline, heating oil and even medicines. Money doesn't make the world go round...oil does.

Since the end of the cold war, Russia has taken every precaution to keep the reins pulled tight on the bubbling black beast of burden that has carried them from a defunct and insignificant has-been superpower, to a newly regenerated force of contention for our country in a relatively short period of time. Whilst the Bear has trumpeted a call for peace and economic ties with the once hated west - he has never really gotten over the trouncing he took by an American backed Afghani militia who brought down his armed forces on the mountains of Afghanistan and eventually the floundering economy of the former United Socialist Soviet Republic. The 'Red Curtain' is on the rise once again.

Persia - who became (officially) Iran in 1935 - has long been a major player in the hunt for oil. Laying claim to the number four spot in the 'who's who' in oil producing countries, as much as 80% of her revenues are derived from the deeply buried treasure. As the world held it's breath during the latest and greatest pricing spike it has ever seen - and just over $140 dollars / barrel absolutely IS the highest point at which the OPEC nations have been able to 'lord it over' the globe - Iran enjoyed a time of muscle flexing and brash flaunting of her forked tongue in her unbridled hatred for Israel and harsh rhetoric with regard to the world body's insistence that she lay aside her goal of nuclear technology. Beyond the Islamic revolution of 1979, Iran occasionally stirs the political pot, and this latest rising of her global significance in the news has now come to somewhat of a standstill at the moment - since the fall from $147 USD per barrel to $33 USD per barrel has put a great strain on her tongue and belly. This lull in brazen threats by the parties aforementioned, while tapered off to some degree for the moment, however, will be short lived according to the Holy Bible.

In my pouring over of the Word of God, it is not lost on me that the confederation of nations that join forces with Russia as their leader - as prophesied in the 38th and 39th chapters of Ezekiel - are all united and identical in 4 areas; they are the progeny of Ishmael, Abraham's first and illegitimate son by Hagar and half brother of Isaac, they are all Muslim, they are equal in their futile but passionate and utter disdain for Israel, and they are all oil producing countries - the true link that they all share with the Russian Bear. While the world was held captive for many months with the sharp edge of the petrol sword, these countries all enjoyed the a massive jump in profits that has helped fund their terrorist activities and added weight to the heavy hand of Islamic extremism. Even the more covert Russia, during this time, held more trump cards in it's hand in dealing with Europe and it's former USSR satellite states and it's influence of the world market. Alas, this crude (oil) 'full nelson' has quickly lost it's strangle hold due to the economic crisis spurred by the west's irresponsible stewardship of wealth. This is not mere irony but fulfillment of prophecy. There is only one direction this can go in my discernment. War is inevitable and imminent. Once you have bellied up to the bar with the biggest kid on the block and taunted him with big words and bigger threats, you must follow through - especially if you are an advocate and financier of Islamic extremism and running full speed toward nuclear arms with thousands of centrifuges spinning to the end of highly enriched uranium. Now that Russia and the Muslim neighbors of Israel have fallen into their own trap - depending on oil in a bid to control the world - they only have one option...the eventual attempt to injure the west via our middle-east outpost (as they see it), the Hebrew nation, the land of the ‘occupier‘ Jew. Unfortunately for them - Israel is ‘the apple of God’s eye.’

While this is a very tedious scenario built on decades of philosophical, historical, political, ideological and religious layers - it all fits together with great clarity even though it has the complexity of a million piece puzzle. From the rebirth of Israel in 1948, the Cuban missile crisis, the rise of Islam, the pre-cold-war dominance of Russia and their desire to regain the political and economic clout they once had, to the rising and falling oil prices due to global recession caused by a Godless American quest for selfish, hedonistic happiness and the current climate of hate in the middle-east - the groundwork has been laid and the stage is now set for the Magog conflict found in the book of the prophet Ezekiel.

Just as during the pre-election run up to the polls, when I knew the Holy Spirit was pressing upon me that (even though everything I read...every broadcast media production seemed to claim that he was who they wanted, but just wouldn't be able to make it happen this time around) Barack Obama absolutely would win, and with enough of a landslide to be considered a true 'mandate for change', even though I honestly began to doubt what was put in my heart and mind...Lord please forgive my doubting. I discern that oil will be the catalyst for the Magog conflict that is sure to occur sooner rather than later. What may even add to this slippery slope of oil driven madness is that many believe that Israel may sit on top of massive oil reserves - and have began drilling in areas they believe the Bible points to, the very finger of God indicating they way to the 'blessings from beneath'. Just Google Zion Oil’ an you’ll see what I mean.

With all of this in mind, and because of the destructive blow that falling oil prices has dealt to Russia and Israel's sworn Islamic enemies - the following passage from Ezekiel truly stands out with urgency and clarity:

Ezekiel 38:9-13 "You will go up, you will come like a storm; you will be like a cloud covering the land, you and all your troops, and many peoples with you." Thus says the Lord GOD, "It will come about on that day, that thoughts will come into your mind and you will devise an evil plan, and you will say, 'I will go up against the land of unwalled villages. I will go against those who are at rest, that live securely, all of them living without walls and having no bars or gates, to capture spoil and to seize plunder, to turn your hand against the waste places which are {now} inhabited, and against the people who are gathered from the nations, who have acquired cattle and goods, who live at the center of the world.' "Sheba and Dedan and the merchants of Tarshish with all its villages will say to you, 'Have you come to capture spoil? Have you assembled your company to seize plunder, to carry away silver and gold, to take away cattle and goods, to capture great spoil?' '"

Genesis 49:25 [Even] by the God of thy father, who shall help thee; and by the Almighty, who shall bless thee with blessings of heaven above, blessings of the deep that lieth under, blessings of the breasts, and of the womb:

Deuteronomy 32:13 “He made him ride on the high places of the earth, and he ate of the produce of the fields; and he made him suck honey out of rock, and oil out of the flinty rock.”

Deuteronomy 33:24 “And of Asher he [Moses] said, blessed above sons; let him be acceptable to his brethren, and let him dip his foot in oil.”

We are living in the times of the birthing pangs, the era just prior to the rapture of the Saints of the Most High God. The Magog conflict has never been more visible in history - thank the Lord He has told us in His-story.
