Since the beginning of time there has never been an era such as our recent twentieth century. Until the industrial revolution, the world really hadn't changed much from the day Adam and Eve were driven out of Eden. To go from hither to yon, you had limited choices. By foot, on the back of beasts of burden or in a cart being pulled by them, or in a floating vessel...and the nearest thing to aviation was being thrown from a cliff to your death. Though major advances in medicine and transportation began in the mid to late 1800's, the 1900's has been the single greatest century for the growth of technology and industry in human history. Our generation even calls itself the 'information age'. With all of the archeological and literary finds discovered in the recent hundred or so years - that confirm Biblical claims - and the explosion in the sciences, I believe we're living during the very time spoken of by the prophet Daniel, relating the revelation the Lord gave to him regarding the end of times:

Daniel 12:4 But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, [even] to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.

Time also seems to have sped up. Though this is a normal side effect of the aging of the human animal; the psychological pseudo-perception of years that go by faster as we age - I am specifically speaking of time as an historical marker in that the world has begun 'spinning faster', if you will. Although the heart's beats increase and decrease in constant fluctuation, the clock's second hand continues unaffected. Ask a woman with labor pains, they don't just seem to get stronger and more numerous as time progresses, they actually do increase; in frequency and strength. This is finite time versus the infinite. Time within time. Such as a roller-coaster going over the apex of the hill – it's velocity, because of the laws of physics - pull it harder and faster and time and distance are skewed. Likewise, each day that burns from the calender of our finite lives, the faster the roller-coaster falls - until the moment that the child is delivered. Such seems to be the times in which we live, bringing to mind the book of Matthew (though found elsewhere):

Matthew 24:6-8 "You will be hearing of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not frightened, for {those things} must take place, but {that} is not yet the end. "For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and in various places there will be famines and earthquakes. "But all these things are {merely} the beginning of birth pangs.

But, probably the most prevalent topical discussion of our times sees our earth as violently raging, moving towards a cataclysmic catastrophe that will engulf man. One over which man can have no control, can't honestly understand, and one that will eventually kill off the human race. At least that's what this mindset would have one believe. It is the doctrine for the modern day religion of the masses. A combination of hedonism, paganism and secular liberalism. A theology of self. The foundation of this self-help society is built on the emotions, lust, greed, comfort, happiness, indulgence and pride. It claims not to be a religion at all, while it assumes the roll of universal truth. This religion holds nature up as it's god. It's not surprising, then, that global warming has become the mantra of this modern day secular world, and sadly does include some parishes in various denominations that name the Name of Jesus Christ.

Global warming, which is not a new concept and has been shown to be a cyclical occurrence, is now being preached by those who would have the world become consolidated, in it's laws, currency and government to the detriment of the inhabitants of earth. A way to control legislation, agriculture and I am convinced, eventually, religion. I perceive this will be one of the crowns worn by the Antichrist as part of his great deception. It has gone from a theory of the ebb and flow of climactic evolution to the 'boogie-man' of our day, looming in a dark alley ready to destroy the earth. World leaders are perplexed as the sea and the waves are rolling and tsunamis and cyclones carry away human life in the millions. Presidents proclaim the majesty of creation, fearing the complications of weather patterns and seasons gone awry, extolling the glory of 'mother nature'. Nations shamelessly proclaiming their dependence upon her provision for their ultimate survival and shunning the mere mention of a God who actually does provide for His own. This 'green yoke' is one with grave consequences for any who allow themselves to come under it.

More than a simple lie, the global warming watchdogs perpetuate spiritual fraud against the world by turning them from the Creator to the creation just as Paul admonished the Roman believers about carnality and idolatry:

Romans 1:18-25 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, because that which is known about God is evident within them; for God made it evident to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse. For even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks, but they became futile in their speculations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the incorruptible God for an image in the form of corruptible man and of birds and four-footed animals and crawling creatures. Therefore God gave them over in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, so that their bodies would be dishonored among them. For they exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.

Simply put, the Christian who has given himself over to the doctrine of global warming has said in his heart, “God's word cannot be trusted”, the secular man... “there is no God”. Refusing to believe that He is omniscient and that the truth is perfectly revealed in His word, they have become one on whom the 'rock of stumbling' will fall and grind to powder.

Open your eyes blind man! If the earth is increasing in temperature, it serves the will of the Master and Creator, God. You need only search the Scriptures for truth. If we are nearing the precipice – when all of the final prophecies from God are coming to the forefront, global warming gives credence to another event found in John's Revelation of Christ:

Revelation 16:8-9 The fourth {angel} poured out his bowl upon the sun, and it was given to it to scorch men with fire. Men were scorched with fierce heat; and they blasphemed the name of God who has the power over these plagues, and they did not repent so as to give Him glory.

I disagree with some wonderful theologians in whom I find great character and leadership, who refuse to accept global warming as real. Since this is not a matter of heresy - to believe that the earth could be growing hotter whether by man or natural forces - we can agree to disagree, as I believe we just can't know with any degree of certainty either way. Instead, I ask, if the planet is increasing in temperature, and I concede it may be, is it possible that there is a purpose that serves the Lord's plan for the end of times? We shall have to wait and see. I will only add that the Lord has said that the world will never end, but it will be renovated through fire. Will you be refined as gold or consumed like chaff? THAT is the question. The only thing in life that actually bears any weight when the lights go out on this side of eternal life is whether or not you have a relationship with Christ by grace through faith - in the shedding of His innocent blood as ransom for our sins.
