As in the days when the children of the twelve tribes of Jacob cried out in their distress for a king - one made of flesh rather than for their God to rule over them - so have we, the first truly Christian nation who was ordained by YHWH to take up the mantle of 'Light unto the nations' which was for a time removed from Israel - called out for a man rather than our Lord to rescue us. Samuel the prophet took the cries of the Hebrew nation before the Lord and He granted their request. So has He again brought upon them who once loved and feared Him a new king. Woe to the world.
At the time the boy Samuel was growing into a man and prophet unto the Lord, the spiritual leadership in Israel was entrusted to the wicked son’s of Eli - Hophni and Phinehas - whom the book of 1st Samuel calls ‘sons of Belial’ - meaning son’s of Satan...because they ‘knew not the Lord’. They were sexually perverse, morally corrupt and completely unstable in all of their ways. During a time of war the Philistines came against Israel to besiege it. The Jews brought the Ark of the Covenant before them in battle, as was always done out of faith, yet the Lord allowed them to be smitten. Because of the sins of Eli and the children of Israel - allowing the priesthood to be infiltrated and hijacked by wickedness and not casting out and throwing down this dastardly duo, Israel was given in to the hand of the Philistine in battle and suffered great losses. During the battle, the sons of Eli were slain and shortly thereafter and upon receiving the grave news, Eli, their father perished, as well as his daughter-in-law, who died in childbirth. Her child was named Ichabod - meaning, “the glory of the Lord has departed” from Israel.
The times were filled with uncertainty; war and financial difficulty. It is hard to feed your family if your crops are burned, your livestock stolen or slaughtered, and you never know when your village may be razed by a foreign army. The Jews were in great distress and became desirous of a monarch to rule over them and lead an army of professional soldiers into battles for them, since as of late, they had been having little luck with a militia of civilians. But, it was the reason for these losses they didn’t comprehend. They had turned away from God so He let tribulation come upon them, to bring about repentance in their hearts.
Alas, our once Judeo-Christian nation finds it's self on the brink of accepting the rule of a new king - one that is different than the previous ones. Though the reader may instinctively reach for race as my intended target, color has not one wit to do with it. Neither, do I believe that was what Daniel meant when he wrote regarding the insolent king - the little horn - the son of perdition:
Daniel 7:24 'As for the ten horns, out of this kingdom ten kings will arise; and another [king] will arise after them, and he will be different from the previous ones and will subdue three kings.
Instead, the emphasis is one of political prowess and spiritual and moral bankruptcy. Since this king is empowered by Satan, the father of lies and the evil one bent on the destruction of man's soul, he will naturally display some of these character traits no matter how well camouflaged. Unfortunately for the world at large, absolute truth in nonexistent and political correctness is the banner of unity - leading the many lost sheep of the world to slaughter. The lack of discernment by most and his ability to mislead the masses is apparent in the following verses:
Daniel 8:12 Because of rebellion, the host of the saints and the daily sacrifice were given over to it [him]. It [he] prospered in everything it [he] did, and truth was thrown to the ground.
Daniel 8:23 "In the latter part of their [four kingdoms] reign, when rebels have become completely wicked, a stern-faced king, a master of intrigue, will arise.
Daniel 8:25 He will cause deceit to prosper, and he will consider himself superior. When they feel secure, he will destroy many and take his stand against the Prince of princes. Yet he will be destroyed, but not by human power.
These attributes clearly establish him as one who IS different than all who came before him - not because of his race or religion - which define what he is, but rather who he is and from where his power comes - the imp of Satan, the puppet of perdition having the ‘miracles‘ of Satan at his disposal. His power will not be his own and because of his sage intellect, the world will be in awe of him - looking to him to solve their problems; financial, military, religious and otherwise.
The common mistake made by the masses is to misunderstand the immense popularity of this pawn of the devil. When we hear prophecy call him; the ‘little horn’- the ‘son of perdition’- the ‘beast’ and the ‘Antichrist,’ the temptation is to immediately be repulsed, as the descriptions are not extremely pleasant - and believe that the world will not accept him willingly, but that he will conquer the earth by force. This could not be further from the truth with exception of he miniscule minority of them that will oppose him, most of which who will be destroyed. In fact, he will be sought after, worshipped willingly, loved and revered. He will make himself out to be the answer to the problems the world faces. He will make the people believe that man has it within himself to master his own problems - with him as supreme leader - and cause most to turn from God and to him. He will be handsome by sight, pleasant to the ear, easy to stomach and smooth as silk. He will be the kind of guy that relates to the poor and the kings of this world interchangeably. He will preach peace and security and have the power to make people believe these things are possible in this fallen world. Those who have not come to a saving relationship with the God of all creation will be taken by him as in their hearts they will say, “if ever there were a God-Man who walked upon the earth...surely this is him.” Many will even believe he is Jesus Christ in the flesh - which he will embrace in his narcissistic soul. The only real thorn in his side will be the minute community of post rapture, tribulation Christian Saints who will come to faith during the time of 'Jacob's trouble', and them that will never accept any lordship, from God or man.
By now, it is probably painfully obvious to the reader that I am leaning toward the new American president elect, Barack Obama as the only political figure that reflects to an alarming degree, most of these character traits in his public persona. And, so, we will have to wait and watch with regard to the chronology of events and the leadership of this man, as to whether this presumption is accurate. For now, I will continue to report on the personality likenesses seemingly connecting this man of prominence to prophetic passages of Scripture.
In that vein, I see another developing layer that seems to fill out the body of this supposition I have made, labeling this man as the perfect candidate for the Antichrist. We read in the Apocalypse that the Antichrist will be a Gentile as he ‘comes up out of the sea’. This statement is a reference to the frequently used phrase ‘sea of peoples’ and is always associated with the Gentile nations - or any race of people other than Jews. Barack Obama is not Jewish, and thus - even if no other characteristic of the Antichrist fit him - this one does; but Antichrist’s closest and most trusted advisor will be a Jew, as Revelation says this beast comes up out of the ‘land’ or ‘earth’ - depending on the translation - which is indicative of the land of Israel.
The office of the prophet in the Old Testament was one of ‘most trusted advisor’ and this relationship is seen time and again in the Bible in both Jewish and Gentile nations; from the Pharaohs and their seers to King Saul and Samuel and David and Nathan to Nebuchadnezzar and Daniel. The prophet to the king was as much a political office as it was a religious title. We see that God spoke though Malachi 4:5 regarding His messenger, who will ‘prepare the way of the Lord,’ and this was fulfilled by John the Baptist who came ‘in the spirit and power of Elijah’ the prophet, as the book of Luke tells us in chapter 1:17. Ah, but Satan is a liar who tries to emulate God and the prophecies concerning the Messiah, therefore Christ warned us of imposters and to watch for the ‘abomination that brings desolation’ prophesied by Daniel, revealing the Antichrist himself, who will claim to be God in the flesh.
Since this prophecy concerning the ‘messenger of God’ who will ‘prepare the way of the Lord’ is one which has - in the life of Christ as John the Baptist - and will again - before His return to earth - take place in the embodiment of one of the two witnesses of Revelation and who will not be a reincarnation of Elijah but one who comes in the ‘spirit and power of Elijah,’ found in Revelation 11, we can safely assume the false prophet of Revelation will come as Satan’s messenger, to prepare the world for his ordination as religious master and coronation as king. This false prophet, comes out of the 'land' - Israel - and will be his most trusted advisor and closest confidant.
All this being said - if Obama is indeed the Antichrist himself, who comes up ‘out of the sea of people’ being a Gentile, then he will have an imitator prophet who will prepare the people of earth to receive him as the messiah. This ’most trusted and closest advisor’ will be just as seen in the previous paragraphs in relation to the kings and their prophets. He will tell the world the good news of the false savior and convince the inhabitants thereof that he is the chosen one of God. Just as the prophets of old, he will be a spiritual advisor, political tactician and military manipulator who helps his king in coming to global power and in setting up his temporal kingdom. One of the most important attributes of this false prophet is found in the book of Revelation in that he must be a Jew, or one who ’comes up out of the earth [or land].’ a euphemism for the land of Israel:
Revelation 13:11 Then I saw another beast coming up out of the earth, and he had two horns like a lamb and spoke like a dragon.
With this in mind, and assuming Barack Obama will become the final world dictator, read the following excerpt from a YNet News article regarding Rahm Emanuel, a native son of Israel (and do a little independent research on the man; you may be intrigued):

My research shows that Emanuel does indeed have a bit of a ‘forked tongue’ (he even admits of himself, jokingly) with regard to his abrasiveness and blunt style and I find it interesting that (as the reader should know, I am a lover of etymology) the name Rahm comes from the Old Testament name Ram:
From the Hebrew (transliteration) Ram = "high" or "exalted"
1) a Judaite, son of Hezron, father of Amminadab, and ancestor of David
2) a Judaite, son of Jerahmeel
3) a kindred of Elihu, the friend of Job
Not ironically, the word is also used for the name of the dominant male of domestic sheep who, when they reach maturity, develop horns with which to butt with other maturing males in competition. It is also quite intriguing that his last name, Emanuel, comes from the Hebrew Emmanuel, which as any Christian knows means “God with us”.
Though time will tell and is the revealer of all prophecy, we must be ever vigilant on behalf of our unsaved brothers and sisters of this world, to help in understanding and give them a glimmer of hope when the moment of truth comes and the church is removed from their sight. The time draws near.
