In this article, I wish to entertain the reader with a Bible study the Spirit has led me through recently which has been shockingly revealing and astonishingly insightful in my quest to help determine the answer to the question: “Who will become the Antichrist and where will his throne be?”

Only trumped by wanting to help lead as many as possible to Christ and His cross so that they may be saved, the most pertinent mission that has been laid on me as a burden is to leave behind - yes, I say leave behind as I look for the impending rapture - a record of events closely chronicling the headlines of the world in these the last days, in hopes of giving a clear and accurate understanding of Bible prophecy and what it means to those who will face a time of tribulation and wrath that will end with the final judgment of our Holy God and Father, through His Son Jesus Christ.

With this intent in mind, and with this most important question as the catalyst, I was given to ponder the city of Babel/Babylon and her role in ancient Biblical history and the ties to Mystery Babylon of Revelation. The following is an attempt to show the reader just how relevant this history from the Old Testament is when discerning the things to come…very, very soon.

Many Biblical scholars interpret history from the garden of Eden, through the flood of Noah’s time, and up until the Tower of Babel in the following manner; God made man, man sinned and corrupted the earth - over time the wickedness of man was so grossly prevalent that the Lord destroyed the world leaving behind only one family to repopulate it. After this family began to procreate, Nimrod, the son of Cush of the sons of Ham, became a great hunter and warrior and eventual King, moving his people to the east in the land of Shinar (Assyria), the birthplace of Babylon. These scholars present the building of the tower of Babel as an attempt by the people to create a man made mountain that would reach up to heaven as a means of escaping if God chose to once again flood the earth.

While I do believe this is an accurate representation of the facts, I believe there is much more to it. In building this tower the people show their mistrust of God’s word to Noah, and an ignorance much like Eve‘s; misquoting the Lord‘s word to Adam while in conversation with the Serpent of Old (that they may not even touch the sacred forbidden Tree). This is disobedience in unbelief and is the poster child of rebellion:

Genesis 9:11 "I establish My covenant with you; and all flesh shall never again be cut off by the water of the flood, neither shall there again be a flood to destroy the earth."

In fact, there is more than ample evidence to suggest that Nimrod and his people decided that rather than believing and trusting in God to keep His Word, they would - in place of God - become their own god, assuming they could effect their own destiny and bring about their own salvation from destruction. They even declared that they would make a name for themselves in this place - a wonderful hint as to their intention; to replace God with themselves with Nimrod the great King as their ruler. For a better understanding of these points we must unpack this history and shed the light of the Spirit on it, chasing away the darkness and revealing the truth.

Briefly, the story unfolds thusly: Noah’s son Ham looked upon his father’s nakedness and for this, Noah pronounced a curse upon him - establishing an order; Shem meaning ‘the Name’ or ’of fame or glory’ as the most prominent (and his descendants including Abraham and eventually Yeshua, Jesus), his brother Japheth, meaning ’opened’ - (and his descendants) as being blessed by dwelling in the tents of Shem, and Canaan, meaning ’lowland’ (and his descendants) - the son of Ham, meaning ’hot’ - as the servant of his brothers.

Genesis 9:27 "May God enlarge Japheth, And let him dwell in the tents of Shem; And let Canaan be his servant."

The word and name Shem is part of the compound word used by Jewish orthodoxy to represent God, being expressed ‘‘Ha’Shem‘’, or ‘the Name,’ in whose family lineage was born Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Judah, King David, and Jesus Christ. The importance of this expression and a key to the curse against Babel/Babylon (and the future Mystery Babylon the Great) is found in the history of Nimrod, meaning "rebellion" or "the valiant" who was the son of Cush, which means ‘black‘ since he was born a very dark color and whose lineage makeup the people of Africa today, and who (Nimrod) prefigures the future Antichrist of Revelation.

The city of Babel, meaning ‘confusion,‘ in the land of Shinar was the location Nimrod began the building of a Tower which he intended to reach into heaven - much in the way Satan wanted to take over God’s throne - with the people proclaiming that they should make a ‘Name’ (Shem) for themselves:

Genesis 11:4 They said, "Come, let us build for ourselves a city, and a tower whose top {will reach} into heaven, and let us make for ourselves a name [Shem = name as of God, reputation, fame, glory] , otherwise we will be scattered abroad over the face of the whole earth."

This famed city was also where the Lord caused a great confusion to come over the people as he mixed up their one language to become many, so that the people gave up on their tower and separated, moving across the world into different regions and becoming nations of their own. While modern science frowns on this history as myth, there is no reason beyond prideful disbelief to disregard this explanation. It is human nature to cling to our kind, therefore the diasporas of the world’s peoples because of language and race make complete intellectual sense and is, in fact, the truth of the make up of societies - a oneness of culture, race and language.

What we see is that the beginning of the world after the flood was one of a singular language, culture, religion (hedonistic paganism) and commerce that was dispersed through the world, culminating thousands of years later at it’s end as a one world effort to unite all nations, tribes, tongues, religions and commerce - under the rule of one earthly king who will say to his people, “we are able to control our own destiny and I will be your god” - who will seek to establish his throne in heaven.

This utopian society (which can never be achieved) has been a dream of kings through the millennia. Strikingly, history is full of these attempts at world domination of certain rulers; from Nimrod to Nebuchadnezzar and the Roman Caesars, to modern dictatorial leaders in the mold and manner of Adolf Hitler. Just as surprising, these men can’t see past the cloud of their darkened narcissism into the records of past failures. “No you can’t,” says the Lord Everlasting.

So we have the clues to Mystery Babylon before us; in Nimrod’s day, a city of one language, one culture of several races, the economic center of the known world, false ecumenical prosperity and reliance on self, and a great ruler of high esteem in whom was the desire to be as god - and which fell in one day. In Nebuchadnezzar’s time; a ruler who as Daniel tells us, was king of kings of the earth, governing over all the known world with the Chaldean culture and language as the standard, who controlled all commerce, who demanded to be worshipped, whose kingdom fell in one day (with the ‘son of Nebuchadnezzar’ - Belshazzar - at the helm). During the days of Nero, whose kingdom reigned over the ’kings of the earth’, whose taxation was collected from every nation, whose tongue was spoken in every outpost - at least as a second language - in whose hand was given power by God to govern the known world, and who’s great city fell in one day - at his own hand - of course, blaming Christians for the torching of the city.

With respect to Hitler, though he was clearly lead by the spirit of Antichrist and his dream was to rule the world, it is my perspective that his kingdom had not the power of the previous ones, he did not export his language across the world, nor did his currency become the world standard and he did not sit enthroned above the kings of the earth, therefore he was simply a tool used of God to bring about the return of Israel to their God-given homeland, and in no way rose to the cause and class of Antichrist as we expect to see him, coming in great power as a world dictator. Many other ‘little dictators’ are in this class; those of the ilk of Saddam Hussein, Hugo Chavez, Fidel Castro, Kim Jong Il, Robert Mugabe, King Abdullah, etc., who certainly seek to impose their will on their own but do not have the power and authority handed down from on high to rise to the level of the Beast himself.

Also, a prominent problem with all of these men fitting the description of the son of perdition is that their nations and countries can’t compare in any way to the kingdom of the Antichrist as the aforementioned rulers’ did. Their influence, while possibly affecting the world in diverse and minute ways, doesn’t influence the world in the realms in which Mystery Babylon and Antichrist does/will.

Another theme I reject out of hand is that of the EU or Rome as being the rebirth of the Holy Roman Empire - each of these presupposed by many teachers for reasons mostly due to locale. I wish to remind the reader of the faults with this idea - Rome, while she sits on many waters - though it is not H2O Revelation speaks of, anyway - does not control the world economy, nor does she influence the kings of the earth, neither does she contain peoples of every ‘tribe, tongue, and nation,’ nor does the Pope - while I will concede he is an ante-Christ does not fit the bill of the Antichrist. And, while the EU does have a vast market system and even competes well with the American dollar, once again she doesn’t represent a melting-pot of every race, creed and culture, nor does she sit as the world leader in any meaningful way.

This, then, can only leave one viable nation. This kingdom is surrounded by water so that merchants in their ships can ,at a distance from her ports, wail for her destruction because they were made rich by her delicacies, as pronounced in Revelation. This is a nation that does export her culture and ideology around the world. This country is home to a mixture of every people group, every religion, every culture, every creed and race, who houses the throne room of every king of every nation (the UN in New York), whose economy drives the world markets and whose currency is the standard no matter how threatened at present time, whose language is the second language of over 150 nations, whose lust for food, cars, oil, religion, sex, and everything under the sun is the driving force behind her economy. This land who has executed more than 50 million pre-born babies in a child sacrifice offering of Biblical proportions. The same nation who is the one world dominating force on earth today. This region who would claim to be blessed by God the Father, yet excludes His Holiest and only Son from everything. Who seeks to make it’s people wards of the state - causing all of it’s inhabitants to become dependent on it as the sole source of peace and security, health and well being, and demands worship from her citizens in the way of adhering to policies twisted and contorted out of context with her founding documents, originally based on the Word of God. This nation would willingly place a false believer, pro-homosexual countercultural leader who despises children so much so that he would take up abortion as his pet-project and favorite argument of divisiveness among his people. A nation who now finds itself governed by fools, the likes the Bible describes as those who are hungry for bribes and do not seek the good of the orphan or the widow. A nation who, like Israel, was raised up by the Lord to be a light unto the nations - yet has become like dross, like watered-down wine. This country that has been so filled with apostasy that the Name of Christ is now a marketing ploy, His music a pop-culture phenomenon, His Word distorted into a gospel of prosperity for the here and now rather than the hereafter and His church, so full of tares that the bounty of it‘s harvest will hardly be worth reaping due to the false prophets, lying shepherds and truth-less teachers that rape His Word of all of it‘s meaning. This nation is the United Sates of America.

Woe to my country and woe to my countrymen. The wrath of the Father and of the Lamb abides upon us and shall we escape? Lord forgive us for our sins - they are abhorrent and filthy in your sight. May we seek Your face and turn away back to You before Your hand befalls us and Your mercy is taken away. I fear more than anything, that many of my friends and family are doomed to perish in this land by the strong right hand of the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob - the Holy One of Israel - because they are ignorant and disbelieving - God give me and my fellow watchers the power and the boldness to profess Your Name that many more would believe.

As a postscript to this text I offer a little more light. Insight into something many may have missed from above. While I cannot predict with any real accuracy exactly who Antichrist will be after the rapture, I believe it is worth mentioning and perhaps pointing you again to the history of Nimrod.

Unfortunately, because of political correctness and racial tensions I will most certainly be taken out of context on this and will assuredly be labeled a racist, though I absolutely am not and proclaim that I wish only as the Father has said, that all men might be saved. Yet, there is a component that will positively bring out the rage of many…

Nimrod was the son of Cush. Cush, whose name means ‘black’ was so called because of his color. His progeny and his ancestors were originally settled in the region now called the horn of Africa. Would it surprise any believer that Satan might choose - in a time of racial upheaval and political correctness gone awry - to raise up a man of color from this ‘horn of Africa,’ specifically from Kenya, who is was a practitioner of constitutional law, who can lay claim to both Christianity and Islam in his roots, yet apparently serves neither exclusively, who seems to love the divisiveness of abortion and homosexuality - I’m convinced simply because True Christians know it is an abomination to the Lord, who has himself as well as his adherents waved the banner of the ‘Agent of Change‘ a la the book of Daniel, who is clearly narcissistic by nature and claims to be the only one who can offer hope, who has of late been one to try to impose a peace plan on Israel, and who sees himself as one who can bring about world peace - is this out of the realm of possibility? Or does it lie square in the pages of prophecy.

I believe we will find out sooner than later.
